The possibility of restoring Notre Dame Cathedral after the disastrous fire is real, thanks to 3D scanning technology.

With the smell of ash still in the air, Parisians have questions like why did Notre Dame burn? But above all, they have asked, how can we recover the Cathedral? how to do it? How to get the cathedral back to what it was?

Restoration of historic buildings.

The answer is: 3D scanner technology. A laser scan of the entire structure of the cathedral that keeps the exact position of the walls, ornamental elements, the ceiling and all the parts that were lost in the fire. These devices work by firing laser pulses to measure the distance between the device and any object the laser strikes. The result is a series of points of light, which form a three-dimensional structure on the computer.

At Rodespi we have the same technology that will allow us to restore Notre Dame. This is the BLK 360º scanner. It is a compact laser imaging scanner that uses a 360° laser rangefinder and high-definition panoramic images to create 3D point clouds. With LiDAR technology that captures 360,000 points per second. Three spherical and panoramic HDR cameras with a thermal imaging camera. Generates 3D point clouds with millimeter precision. The BLK360 creates 3D point clouds with overlapping panoramic images. All scans performed by BLK360 can be recorded togetherto generate accurate 3D models of buildings, structures and spaces. Thanks to this technology we can perform interventions and/or studies in cultural and archaeological heritage; topography; architecture, civil and industrial engineering (BIM / CIM).
